Muscle Strain
Lower back pain when standing for too long can be caused by a variety of conditions, including muscle strain, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis.
Muscle strain is a common cause of lower back pain when standing for too long. This can occur when the muscles in the back become overworked or fatigued, leading to small tears in the muscle fibers. This can cause pain, stiffness, and difficulty standing for long periods of time. Treatment for muscle strain may include rest, physical therapy, and over-the-counter pain medications.
Degenerative Disc Disease
Degenerative disc disease is another common cause of lower back pain when standing for too long. This condition occurs when the discs in the spine begin to wear down, leading to pain and stiffness. As we age, the discs in our spine lose their elasticity and ability to absorb shock, leading to pain and discomfort. Treatment for degenerative disc disease may include physical therapy, pain medications, and in some cases, surgery.
Spinal stenosis
Spinal stenosis is a condition in which the spinal canal becomes narrowed, putting pressure on the nerves in the spine. This can cause pain, numbness, and weakness in the legs, as well as difficulty standing. Treatment for spinal stenosis may include physical therapy, pain medications, and in some cases, surgery.
Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is another condition that can cause lower back pain when standing for too long, it is a common condition that occurs when the cartilage between the joints wears down, leading to pain and stiffness. This condition commonly affects the hips, knees, and lower back. Treatment for osteoarthritis may include physical therapy, pain medications, and in some cases, joint replacement surgery.
Obesity
Obesity can also be a cause of lower back pain when standing, as the extra weight puts additional stress on the lower back muscles and joints. Treatment for this may include weight loss through diet and exercise, as well as physical therapy to help strengthen the muscles in the lower back. Matterhorn Fit can help
In order to effectively treat lower back pain when standing, it is important to first identify the underlying cause of the pain. Matterhorn Fit’s rehabilitation process can identify the root cause and help eliminate it.
Our treatment process begins with investigating the root cause of your pain. We start by looking for neurological breakdowns in the system that may lead to compensation and inefficiency in movement patterns. We then treat those breakdowns and implement movement protocols that are designed to reinforce the new neurological patterns.
